Recycle Day

Recycle day is both my favorite and least favorite day at the same time. I love clearing out the house of all the recyclables we have stored for two weeks and letting them go on their merry way. I do miss the every week collection, however, budget cut-backs are what they are.

My least favorite part is when the neighborhood's recycle items end up on my front lawn. I hate having to clean up other people's "garbage" from my house. Sometimes I don't catch it in time and I have two choices, save it for two weeks or put it with the trash collection that is coming the next day. Both are awful choices.

I guess I should just be happy that we have mixed recyclables pick-up and that people are actually recycling. But still...

Dinner Time at Our House

One of the things I am not known for is my cooking. I never will be. The closest I can come to being known for something cooking related, is if I poison a large group of people with raw or inedible food. Not something that I aspire to though.

Nonetheless, I have been taking on more of the household cooking duties. Brian used to cook everything. We would have delicious, well thought out, beautiful meals. Everyday was a meal to look forward to. I miss those days.

Now we have Dream Dinners to thank for our meals. Let's Dish closed near us or I could thank them too. We have scrumptious, defrosted meals, warmed by me. Ahh the joy. No wonder we go out eat so often.

Luckily, Brian usually goes to the Dream Dinners store and "prepares" the meals for our freezer each month. When we prepared Let's Dish meals, we would drop Caedan off at my mom's house and have a lame "date" of making meals. Now, since we are going to a preparation station closer to home, Brian goes after work. However, I got to enjoy this fun experience this month.

If you have never been to a meal preparation store, you are missing a fun experience, let me tell you. First off, the owners greet you and tell you things like I am so happy to meet the real Kelly. (Brian always goes but since I order online and use my credit card, they have my name written on our orders and our cubby.) I LOVE the name Kelly! Ok, you already have my money, thanks for the flattery. But I doubt anyone likes my name that much. I then got a quick tour and a demo. The explanation and voice used, could have easily transfered to a kindergarden lesson.

Next, I tried to prepare our meals as quickly as possible. Being very careful to use just the right amount of ingredients, as laid out on the chart. I was very fearful of the hawk eyes watching me and the oh so sweet nudges in the right direction.

After washing my hands 50 times and preparing 36 servings, the equivalent of 12 meals, I was ready to go! Or so I thought. I spent another half an hour, while the owners, painstakingly went through my order to make sure I didn't steal anything. A. Like I could, B. Like I would want to. Now I know why Brian is in a bad mood when he comes home from "Dream" Dinners.

Oh well, expect us next month! Can't wait for my compliment! I will be sure to wear something extra special since you already told me how you love my name. Better yet, I will return to sending Brian. I knew all along that was the way to go. Or maybe just hire a personal chef, one that does the shopping too.

Starbucks Etiquette

While venturing into a Starbucks yesterday, I started to contemplate what kind of things I could get away with. Obviously, I shouldn't steal anything, especially with a small tot in tow, I mean what kind of example would that set? I am always polite, for more reasons than the young set of eyes with a close watch.

But what about clipping my nails while waiting for my drink? Is that going too far? Apparently not for the older man dressed in camouflage. Apparently, that was directly in his realm of acceptable Starbucks etiquette. I think I may try it sometime. Although, I don't think I am scary looking enough to pull it off.

On my way back to the car, I noticed a girl using fingernail polish remover at Starbucks table. By noticed, I mean smelled and then saw. Love the adorable pink outfit, by the way. Did I miss the nail salon sign on the door?

I am hurrying back to my normal Starbucks that apparently has more than tasty drinks, but respectful guests as well.
